Lars Öhrström, professor of inorganic chemistry at the Chalmers Institute of Technology in Göteborg, has been awarded the 2008 stipend in Grez-sur-Loing for natural scientists.
The Foundation cites the following in its award motivation:
Lars Öhrström, who has produced a large volume of scientific articles, plans to use his stay to write a popular-science book with the working title ”Adventures among the elements – An historic journey through the periodic table of the elements”. This book will contain short essays in which each chapter recounts an historic event associated with one of the elements, most often from a human-interest point of view. We believe that Lars Öhrström's writing will be inspired by the serene and cultural atmosphere at Hôtel Chevillon in Grez-sur-Loing.
A high resolution portrait and a press release (in swedish) for publication can be »downloaded here«.
