March 31–May 20
Light and its constant transformation are central to Kalle Sanner’s photographs. The pictures are taken in his own home – at different times of the day – without portraying the surroundings. Instead, an intimation of place is alluded to. Kalle Sanner’s suggestive observations of light are reminiscent of Mark Rothko’s abstract paintings with saturated, rust-red colours and unfathomable depth occurring between two fields of colour. This exhibition in the Project Room Gallerigången is Kalle Sanner’s first solo show at the Hasselblad Center.
Kalle Sanner (born 1978) lives and works in Gothenburg. He has a master’s degree from the School of Photography and is head of education at Yrkeshögskolan’s photography department in Gothenburg. Since 2009, he has run Blackbook publications, which publishes artist books by Scandinavian photographers. In 2007, Kalle Sanner participated in the group exhibition New Nordic Photography at the Hasselblad Center.
