Botanical in Transition – New Spaces for the Plant World
How can new spaces, images, and immersive experiences deepen our understanding of the plant world and biological diversity?
Gothenburg Botanical Garden is undergoing a major development with new greenhouses and a forthcoming visitor centre—an initiative aimed at strengthening both the visitor experience and educational activities, with a particular focus on biodiversity. The project is made possible in part through support from the Hasselblad Foundation.
In this lunchtime talk, representatives from the Botanical Garden offer insight into the work behind this initiative and present how new spaces, technologies, and narrative forms are being developed to give shape to the plant world. A central feature is a new film theatre, where advanced projection, sound, and lighting create an immersive experience of plants, scientific research, and conservation work.
The conversation also offers a preview of the new facilities, along with images from recent field expeditions conducted in preparation for future plant collections.
