Lecture: Art Histories from Kalaallit Nunaat (Greenland)
Art from and about Kalaallit Nunaat (Greenland) has long occupied a peripheral position within Western art history—if it has been included at all. In this lecture, art historian Laila Lund Altinbas presents a curated selection of art histories that explore the parallel colonial histories of Kalaallit Nunaat and Denmark, viewed through the nuanced lens of art.
The lecture situates the work of Inuuteq Storch within a broader art historical context connected to Kalaallit Nunaat, and considers how art can function as a space for memory, resistance, and the renegotiation of historical narratives.
Date: Saturday, 14 March, 1:00 pm
Place: Hasselblad Center
The lecture is included in the admission fee.
The lecture will be held in English.
