Inauguration of the exhibition To the Moon and Back
Welcome to the opening of the exhibition To the Moon and Back, a 4-day exhibition held at the Hasselblad Center during the Gothenburg Book Fair. The exhibition will be inaugurated by Swedish astronaut Marcus Wandt.
The exhibition To the Moon and Back focuses on the Book Fair’s theme of Space. The exhibition brings together science and photography, focusing on society’s relationship with them. It features historical NASA images, moon cameras, and the story of Erna and Victor Hasselblad, along with modern photographic artworks that show different aspects of space. The exhibition highlights our fascination with the moon, its beauty, and how small humans are in the vast universe. It also addresses the lack of recognition for women in astronomy and raises questions about truth and photography during the 1960s space race. Additionally, there are pieces that look at current plans to use the moon for monitoring Earth. Lastly, it displays photos from Gothenburg’s largest photography project for ninth graders, also inspired by the theme of space.
Swedish astronaut Marcus Wandt will inaugurate the exhibition at 11 AM on September 26. Wandt is the third Swede to travel to space. On January 18 this year, Marcus Wandt journeyed to the International Space Station to conduct research in microgravity.
