Microhistory as an Artistic Practice

18 Jan, 2025

Exhibition | Talk

Welcome to a conversation with artist Magnus Bärtås and the historian Andrej Slávik  about microhistory as an artistic approach.

Throughout the conversation, they will introduce their idea of microhistory and provide a background on how their collaboration has developed. They will also showcase some concrete examples of artistic works with microhistorical characteristics, ultimately inviting the audience to a discussion about future possibilities. The event is organized in connection with the exhibition of this year’s Hasselblad Award winner Ingrid Pollard and relates to her research-based artistic practice, in which she often employs in-depth investigations and analyses of social, cultural, and historical contexts in her works.
