Visit the Onsala Space Observatory
Onsala Space Observatory is Sweden’s national facility for radio astronomy and is linked to Chalmers. The space observatory is used by scientists who want to understand the universe and our own planet. Here, young people and the public can come into close contact with the technology as well as the questions that the researchers are trying to answer.
Over the years, the Hasselblad Foundation has financed several research projects at the observatory, but the connections to the Hasselblad name go back as far as the 1970s. At the time, Victor and Erna Hasselblad lived on Råö and donated the land where the 20-meter telescope was built.
In connection to the Internationel Science Festival Gothenburg, you now have the chance to visit the telescopes and meet scientists at the Onsala space observatory – and visit the newly built visitor center. Here we blur the boundaries of space and also explore the boundaries of planet Earth. Join a specially chartered bus out to the observatory. Coffee is served.
Four bus trips from Gothenburg. One departs at 10:30 from Lövgärdesskolan, then three departures from Chalmers library (Chalmers Tvärgata, crossing Gibraltargatan) at 12:45, 2:30 and 4:15 p.m. Back at 3:00 p.m., 4:45 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 8:15 p.m., respectively.
The tour will be held in Swedish. Free entrence.
In collaboration with Chalmers and the Internationel Science Festival Gothenburg.
