Workshop: CAPTURING PEEK

Did you ever dream of capturing fabulous freaks in real time? Or the shock, smiles and scowls they spark along the way? Now is your chance with this street photography workshop CAPTURING PEEK!
As part of the public programme for the exhibition Zanele Muholi – Hasselblad Award 2026, the Hasselblad Foundation invites you to a workshop exploring photography, visibility and the power of the gaze.
During the workshop, you will join photographer Elsa Groener who will be lending her queer eye in capturing Status Queer’s drag characters Sinfluencer and The Meatbaby, where drag meets everyday life.
Use your phone or bring your own camera – no previous experience is required. The workshop will be held outside.
Through playfulness and curiosity, we will explore questions that also run through Muholi’s work: Who gets seen? How are we represented? And who gets to decide how we are portrayed?
Place: Hasselblad Center, Götaplatsen 6, Gothenburg
Time: Saturday, 7 November 2026 at 13.00
Language: Swedish and English
Admission: The workshop is free.
Registration: Email
ABOUT PEEK!
PEEK! is a project exploring the subversive power of drag as well as queer and trans hypervisibility in public space. By inserting Sinfluencer and The Meatbaby’s drag characters into ordinary life we supercharge the experience of having all eyes on us in our daily lives. Playing, probing, testing. Elsa captures not only Status Queer’s outrageous queer expressions but also peeks back at the public, capturing incognito snapshots of our onlookers. Here powerful claiming the gaze meets admiration and admonition.
