Inuuteq Storch:
Rise of the Sunken Sun

Hasselblad Center

February 6-May 3 2026

In Rise of the Sunken Sun, the Kalaallit (Greenlandic) photographer Inuuteq Storch presents six photographic works weaving a polyphonic narrative – first and foremost of his native country Kalaallit Nunaat (Greenland).

Inuuteq Storch uses photography to convey stories from his life and foster a broader comprehension of both contemporary and historical Kalaallit Nunaat for an international audience. He also integrates historical images by both professional and amateur Kalaallit photographers, thus intertwining past and present to explore themes of belonging, national identity, and de/colonisation.

Rise of the Sunken Sun was first shown at the Danish Pavilion at the 60th Venice Biennale in 2024 and received widespread critical acclaim. From May to August 2025, a slightly edited version of the exhibition is shown at Center for Photography in Copenhagen.
